I started making YouTube videos in my final year of medical school at Cambridge University. It was Summer 2017 and I started off with 0 views, 0 subscribers and $0 in revenue.

And we'll talk about best practises for titles and thumbnails, arguably one of the most important features of a successful YouTube channel.
✍️ Construct — How to structure your videos in a way that appeals to both your audience and the YouTube algorithm. And how to add flair and branding to your videos to make viewers fall in love with your channel.
🔥 Create — How to create a content calendar and use parallel processing to boost your productivity, so you’re never stressed by impending video deadlines. ⏰ Live Session Timings
We'll have 2 live sessions each week for 6 weeks. They'll be on Mondays and Thursdays, 1600 - 1800 GMT. Each session will have 60-90 mins of core teaching and interactive exercises, followed by an open Q&A. If you can't make the live sessions, don't worry - we'll upload the Zoom recording within 1h of the session ending, and we'll have a nicely edited video with timestamps ready within 24h of the session.
🎬 2. Homework Video Assignments
The Homework Video Assignments are the single most important part of the course.
If you can't (or won't) commit to publishing 1 video each week, this course isn't for you. You won't get much value out of it. It would be like signing up for a gym class, showing up to watch the tutorial, and not doing any exercise. It might be interesting, but it wouldn't get you any results.
You can't grow on YouTube without consistently putting out videos, at least once a week. Yes, there are exceptions, but in general, you need to publish at least once a week to stand a chance of standing out.
Each week, we'll give you a video assignment, which will involve writing, filming, editing and publishing a video on your channel. When you're done, you'll link your video on our community platform so that everyone can comment, and we'll provide detailed feedback on every video assignment that is submitted.

🤔 Frequently asked questions
How long does the course last?
The course lasts 6 weeks from 14th March to 22nd April 2022. The first week is focused on YouTube Foundations to get everyone successfully onboarded and up to speed on the course structure and we'll dive into the meaty content the week after.
Do I need to have a YouTube channel to join the course?
No, it's not compulsory but I'd recommend that you set up a channel before the start of the course.
Do I need to have a certain number of subscribers to join the course?
No. We do recommend that you have a channel set up but in the first two cohorts we've had a whole range of people from those with zero subscribers to channels with over 200k. I hope this course helps everyone move their channels forward regardless of what stage of the journey they're at.
What experience with YouTube do I need to have?
No past experience of YouTube is required, you just need a desire to make YouTube part of your future 😊
I’ve made 100 videos already, is this course for me?
Of course 😃 The course is aimed at everyone of all abilities. Having 100 videos provides you with a really solid foundation to grow, monetise and scale your channel and we hope we can help you do that through the lessons on the course.
What sort of channel is the course suitable for?
The course is not tailored to any specific genre/style of video. In fact, I think the system and processes in the course can be applied to any genre of video and we'll be on hand to help make sure that you feel able to apply these methods if you encounter any issues.
What is the minimum equipment required to take the course?
There are no requirements for equipment and gear. All you need is something to film with so your phone is perfectly fine, that's how I started back in 2017.
How involved will Ali be with the Live Sessions?
I'll host all the live sessions. And on top of that we also have additional workshops (both live and recorded) where some of my internet and YouTube friends will provide extra teaching.
Is it possible to pay in instalments?
Absolutely. Each package should give you an option to pay in 3 instalments if you're unable to pay the full amount up front. A slight head's up - you end up paying slightly more if you go for the instalments option.

I had a really positive experience with the Part-Time YouTuber Academy. It covered a lot of topics that I didn’t know much about, from working with teams and outsourcing to creating systems to make the process more efficient and reach a larger audience. Excellent content presented well.

🎓 Scholarships
We know that some people might not be able to afford PTYA. We don’t want the price to exclude individuals who are passionate about successfully growing their YouTube channel!
That’s why we’ve decided to offer a number of full scholarships to individuals who can demonstrate an enthusiasm and passion for growing their channel and who would benefit from the content of the course.
To apply, you must be over 18 and have an existing YouTube channel with at least 3 published, full length videos (not just Shorts). You must also be available for the 6 weeks of the course which starts on March 14th 2022.
If you meet these requirements, please write answers to ALL the questions in this form and attach a link to an Unlisted YouTube video - NO LONGER than 2 minutes in length - introducing yourself, explaining why you’d benefit from the course, why you’re applying for a scholarship, and finally what your goals are for your channel. We’ll be capping applications at 200 applicants so be sure to get yours in as soon as you can!
Applications which don’t answer all the questions, or which provide a video longer than 2 minutes will not be considered.
Applications will be accepted from the 28th to the 1st March (closing at 1200 GMT on the 1st).
